The real benefits of Swiss Made

June 08, 2018 6 Comments

In the heart of Europe, surrounded by the Alps’ immaculate frame, dressed up in green and boundless valleys, lays beautiful Switzerland, land of tradition, linguistic richness and important roots.

Moreover, Switzerland is undeniably famous for its great devotion to precision, that has characterized its people for ages. This fundamental value reflects on the country’s identity worldwide, on the way we picture this culture but especially on its popular products, a source of prestige and incomparable fame.

The label “Swiss Made” stands for skilled and competent craftsmanship and confers a sense of reliability, lustre and high durability to any timepiece having the honour to present this writing craved on it. They are not only the most appreciated in the market, but also the most valued and respected ones by watch lovers and collectors.

To be more precise, a watch is considered to be Swiss, according to the Swiss law if:

-its movement is Swiss;
-its movement is cased up in Switzerland
-the manufacturer carries out the final inspection in Switzerland

“Swiss Made” is universally believed to be a synonym of attention to aesthetics, technical innovation, excellence, refinement and inimitable subtlety. Its uniqueness and unquestionable validity are peculiarities no one ignores when it comes to timepieces, and that’s why Meccaniche Veneziane decided to rely on it, being aware of its firm promise to deliver quality, pulchritude and efficient products, that will be able to satisfy every people’s need and demand.

But what are the real benefits of a “Swiss Made” timepiece?

First of all, every product undergoes extremely strict and elevated quality controls and is exclusively dust-freely encased. Moreover, at least 60% of the production costs of a watch taken as a whole must be Swiss-based, 60% of the movement’s production has to be generated in Switzerland and the technical development of a Swiss Made watch and movement must be carried out in Switzerland. Originally, the components of Swiss manufacture accounted for at least 50% of the total value, without considering the cost of assembly, but from 1 January 2017, the law set the minimum at 60%. That’s why, according to academic studies, informed costumers are willing to pay up to 20% more for a watch that bears the designation.

Our aim is to give birth to watches which mechanisms won’t be easily deteriorated by time and external agents, without forgetting the importance of beauty and finding the right balance between simplicity and complexity, in order to please the observer’s eyes.

We are deeply convinced that Meccaniche Veneziane’s Italian artistic and magnificent soul’s fusion with Switzerland’s precise and exacting mindset can create trustworthy timepieces, embodying ambition for perfection, incessant will to improve and desire to constantly give our best.

Sincerely yours,

Meccaniche Veneziane Team

Federica Filippi

Hi Lee, thanks for pointing out this aspect, that gives us the possibility to underline the brand’s priorities. The reason why we produce Swiss Made timepieces, is that it’s a guarantee in terms of reliability, high quality and durability. Meccaniche Veneziane’s aim is not to excessively focus on the price, but instead to deliver watches that won’t easily be damaged by external agents or time, but in order to accomplish this goal we need to count on the accuracy and infallibility of Swiss Made. Hope this was helpful.
Cheers,
MV Team

From the customer point of view, I wouldn’t mind if it was made/assembled in Italy or part Italy/part China, honestly, if costs are 20% or more lower. There are those who buy because of your design, not just whether or not it is “Swiss Made”.
